Pulling on the Shades a little more.

So hey guys. I wanted to come in and make a video about the 50 Shades of Grey series because in my opinion this is what the books are about. If you step away from the BDSM part and just read the book in this POV it might be different for you. I know nothing about BDSM relationships so don’t hate me there but just listen to my opinion and yeah =)

Grey

If you have not read 50 Shades of Grey yet you should probably read that first. Here is my review of 50 Shades of Grey.

Grey is 50 Shades of Grey in Christian’s point of view. Which I LOVE. If you have read my other reviews you know that I read these books SO fast. 5 days at most. I am so extremely happy that E L James wrote in Christian’s POV but let me tell you something. I am a tad disappointed in this novel. I wanted more. Yes what we all want from Christian is more.

I wanted to read more about him. More about what he does. More about before Ana didn’t even need to be his childhood. I wanted just more of Christian.

I loved that we got to see what he was thinking during there big fights and even better during their emails. I loved that we saw when he talked to Elena, damn Mrs. Robinson. I really enjoyed that but it didn’t feel like a novel to me. Not what I was used to from E L James. Yes it was just Christian’s POV but I feel like it should have been a novel like the rest. I feel like she rushed through it. She mainly jisted 50 Shades of Grey which yeah who wants to reread 50 Shades of Grey nobody.

I am still hoping she will be writing the rest of the novels in Christian’s POV because I need it. I want it. I am not ready to let them go. I want to read Christian changing. You can tell when he starts to fall in love when he doesn’t even realize it. I love that we read about his time with Flynn and Claude. I love that we show the mini characters that are more based in his life. I love the behind the scenes convos with Ray, Kate, and his family.

I loved finding out he was the one actually picking out the clothes not Taylor or the hired clothes shopper (IDR her name). I loved how much thought he actually put into the gifts. He actually really listened to Ana. She thought he was just letting his staff do everything but in reality he was doing the work. I loved that.

I think my main disappointment is that it took me less than a few hours to read this book while the others took an entire day to read. I didn’t and still don’t want to let the Grey’s go. I just keep getting more and more exciting hoping she is writing more. (Please say you are)

50 Shades Freed

Before we get started I hope you have read my review of 50 Shades Darker if not please click here

If you’ve read my reviews over the first 2 books in this series then you know I couldn’t put these down. I finished Darker and Freed in 2 days. I couldn’t stop myself. This hasn’t happened since I read the Hunger Games series and that has been years. I created a 50 Shades of Grey playlist on Pandora but the songs were getting to techno-y so I just created a new one titled Alessandro Marcello, which happens to be the first piece Ana heard Christian play on the piano. Even though it was a transcription by Bach. I tried to make that station but pandora didn’t have it. (maybe now they will)

Anyways so we left off with Christian and Ana announcing their engagement. And some creeper smoking a cigarette outside of Christians parent’s home. Outside of their engagement party. Mrs. R the pedo runs out of the house in tears and the creep watches her leave. The man divulges that he was the one who was responsible for Christian’s near death by sabotaging his helicopter.

50 Shades Freed starts off on Ana and Christian’s honeymoon. Luck girl Ana traveling the world. Ana is still not used to being rich which bothers Christian and her. She really love Christian for who he is and not the money. Which is what we all want in a relationship pure love. Not material things. 50 Shades Freed is all about Christian and Ana being happily married and still madly in love with Mrs. R out of the picture. Ana’s boss Jack Hyde has been fired for being a pervert and Ana now has his job as Editor.

Her dream job, dream husband, and dream life. She is so happy until there is news that someone is out there trying to harm Christian and his family. Christian has been keeping her out of the loop and Kate knows more than she does. Which honestly ticks her off wouldn’t it you?

In a moment of fear Ana has to save a close family member and give the kidnapper has asked for 5 MILLION dollars for the safe return of Ana’s family member. Ana has no idea how she is going to get the money. She can’t call the cops or Christian the kidnapper will kill said family member. Ana goes to the bank in hopes of getting the money and Christian thinks she is living him. Ana ends up in the hospital and everyone’s world changes. Christian has his final change. He finally realizes how much Ana loves him.

I am honestly saddened that the series has ended. I truly hope there is more to come from our Christian and Ana. I love reading about them. E L James has an amazing writing technic and I honestly think I could read her grocery list and be A OK. I feel when I read this that is a Nicolas Sparks novel. Not an erotic novel. It amazes me how much suspense and love she put into these books. Over 1000 pages and I would read them over and over again. And I will.

If you haven’t read this series yet you truly need to. Like all bookworms know they are nothing like the movie. These amazing books are about loving yourself, changing for the better, trusting in someone else, and forgiving yourself and your past. Opening yourself up to someone is completely hard but giving your all to someone hoping they will catch you when you fall in even harder. Until we meet again Mr. and Mrs. Grey I bid you farewell.

50 Shades of Grey

Let me start off by saying I had no desire to read these books. Why? Because I LISTENED to other people who said it was overbearing and that Christian was a stalker. I am assuming now that the people who said this only watched the movie. (which I am not reviewing but as an avid bookworm as most bookworms know that books are always better than movies, just saying) With that being said Dane and I recently got cable and were flipping through the OnDemand movie section and saw that 50 Shades was FREE! So I was like let’s watch it there is nothing else to watch. So 2 hours later I was like ok this really isn’t that bad I want to go and read the books now.

I already had the series because my sister was in love with the books and somehow they ended up with all my books when I moved to California. I always just had them sitting in my closet with all my other books. Collecting dust. Dane is currently deployed and last week I decided I should start reading. So I did. Honestly I do not remember much about 50 Shades of Grey because I just flew through it. I had to. I couldn’t set it down. I ruined my sleeping schedule I had just fixed because I HAD to read this book.

I have read other FREE kindle erotic novels and honestly I never left them feeling that I had to finish them right this instance. Usually I was reading them because they were well FREE. This book though. It was so much more than just erotic. There is silly banter, irresistible attraction, drama, and most importantly romance.

Ana is so madly in love with Christian because honestly who wouldn’t be he is a rich, handsome, brilliant, and exciting young man. She is fresh out of college and he wants to show her the world. Christian is just so set on catching Ana and making her his that he doesn’t realize that he is actually falling madly in love with her also. They’re each other first loves. Ana knows it but Christian doesn’t realize it. He is too stubborn and adolescent (even though she’s 22 and he’s 27)  she is the more mature one. They complete each other.

In all honesty I really do not think there is anything I didn’t like about this book. The thing about it is I would recommend this to anyone. It really didn’t feel like an erotic novel. It was completely to me a romance novel. Even though there was erotica in it. That is what Christian is all about but I felt the book more in my heart not my panties…just saying.

50 Shades Darker

Before we start and you get SPOILERS, GASP! Have you read my review of 50 Shades of Grey if not go ahead and click here =)

So like I previously said in my 50 Shades of Grey review I was absolutely not interested at all in reading these books because EVERYONE and their grandmother said that it was a horrible novel. (Honestly if it sold what a million copies it obviously wasn’t horrible) Anyways so I watched the movie then flew through 50 Shades of Grey and immediately started 50 Shades Darker. I didn’t sleep I read the book. I couldn’t sleep. I had to know what happened next. I NEEDED to know. I sat there and tried to sleep. Couldn’t so I just started reading. I read ALL DAY. I was messaging my best friend and saying I’ve been up almost 24 hours reading.

Honestly I missed that in a book. I haven’t felt the need the urge to stay up reading a book since I read the Hunger Games series. Being an avid book reader and finally finding another series that you just have to fly through is an amazing feeling. I missed it. It is thrilling to me. It is my adventure. Reading.

50 Shades Darker made me feel things. Made me realize that I need to try harder in my own relationship and so does Dane. We both got well lazy. We don’t need BDSM but we do need to be more adventurous. Try new things. Go out on walks. Obviously we can’t do that while hes a millions miles away in the Pacific Ocean on deployment but when he gets home we need to. (*Note: this relationship ended. Sometimes no matter how much we want change it doesn’t happen. And since writing this original post I realized I needed to love myself more. Not worry about some guy. My word for 2017 is MORE. I want more for myself. For my life. Some food for thought.)

In 50 Shades of Grey we learn that Christian was part of a BDSM relationship when he was only 15 years old with his very own Mrs. Robinson aka Elena Lincoln. Who happens to be his mothers friend. Christian being the adolescent mind he is thinks they are just friends and that their relationship is all in the past. While Mrs. R is a child molester we all know this. I mean come on. But Christian, and honestly me too, can see that she helped him lure him away from being a drug addict just like his birth mom.

I love that in this novel Ana challenges Christian. He is completely bewitched by Ana because he is in love with her. It is driving him crazy that she left him and is trying so hard to figure out how to get her back. He comes up with a brilliant plan to make sure he can still take her to her friend Jose’s photography open house. Of course she obliges and they go off in Charlie Tango, helicopter, to Portland.

Christian doesn’t want to lose Ana so he suggests they completely throw out the contract and just have a purely normal Vanilla relationship. He is trying so hard to please Ana just like she is with him. I LOVE that Gail and Taylor are who they are. There characters do so much for Christian and he starts to appreciate them even more and more as the series goes on. They love him and he doesn’t realize it.

BACK AWAY NOW IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS MY LITTLE DOVES

You sure you want a spoiler???????

OOKKKKKK FINE!

So Christian and Ana get into an argument and Christian falls back into his early childhood days of being completely terrified and just back down he falls to his knees and stays trapped in his little shell. In my opinion that is what he is doing. Retreating to his safe place. Head in his knees hands over himself so nobody, Ana, can’t see him. Like he would do as a child when the bad man would come home and beat him and his mother. Then Christian asks Ana to marry him. By now they’ve been together only a few months maybe 3 I am not too sure. Ana obviously 22 and like what the hell. NO. She says she needs time to think and then the unexpected happens. Christians helicopter goes missing. No contact from him or his business partner Ros. They both are missing for an entire day.

No more about that because I want you all to read the book and fall in love, cry, and feel joy and everything else that happens in 50 Shades Darker. In my honest opinion I feel like this book is completely different that darker. I feel like its lighter. Because Christian is changing. He is coming into the light. I love that he is changing and that Ana is helping him heal. This 2nd book in the series has suspense in it. Not just erotica and romance. It leaves you guessing the entire time I was sitting there wondering what would happen next who is the bad guy, girl? Where is Leila? Who is Leila? There is a lot of suspense in this one here.

Christian is finally realizing all along he was loved. His mother, his father, Elliot, Mia, Taylor, Gail, and especially Ana. He is finally having that ah ha light bulb moment that wait why did I think I wasn’t loved? Why did I think I wasn’t perfect? Why?

I recommend this book because it is NOT JUST ABOUT SEX! You like adventure? BOOM! You like danger? BOOM! You like sex? OBVIOUS BOOM! I cannot wait for this book to become a movie in 2017 (they better not screw it up I swear)
